Their mandate is to oversee Intelligence and Security affairs within the German Empire. They are the main intelligence body of the Empire and ensure stability in the state and across the nation as a whole. This includes protection from political opponents to terrorists.
Their mandate is to root out traitors of the Empire ensuring that treason, Espionage, and subversion is sought out. The NSB serves as watchful guardians and ruthless enforcers of the Imperial order. External Intelligence collection is conducted by Officers of the NSB, they surveil the population, and Government officials. Keeping tabs on officials communications and dismantaling underground resistance movements.
