New York Police Department

The New York Police Department (NYPD) is charged with the policing of the Capitol of the Imperial American Protectorate, New York and is made up of loyal Americans who wish to see peace prosper throughout the streets. They are led by a Police Commissioner who is appointed by the Mayor and Lieutenant Governor of New York City, with a deputy holding the rank of Police Chief.

Powers of the New York Police Department

The New York Police Department shall have the power and it shall be their duty to preserve the public peace, prevent crime, detect and arrest offenders, suppress riots, mobs and insurrections, disperse unlawful or dangerous assemblages and assemblages which obstruct the free passage of public streets, sidewalks, parks and places; protect the rights of Imperial citizens and property, guard the public health, and preserve order at all public meetings and assemblages.

The New York Police Department shall regulate, direct, control and restrict the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic for the facilitation of traffic and the convenience of the public as well as the proper protection of human life and health; remove all nuisances in the public streets, parks and places; arrest all street mendicants and beggars; provide proper police attendance at fires; inspect and observe all places of public amusement, all places of business having excise or other licenses to carry on any business;

The New York Police Department shall enforce and prevent the violation of all laws and ordinances in force in the Capital of the Protectorate; and for these purposes to arrest all persons guilty of violating any law or ordinance for the suppression or punishment of crimes or offenses.

The New York Police Department may enforce the law in a preventative manner via preventative detention under this Act. They may hold individuals for a duration of up to thirty minutes. They may apply for an extension of this duration to any officer of the American Bureau of Investigation, who may increase it to one hour. Further holding requires judicial review via application of an officer of the New York Police Department to a judge.

The before mentioned powers are entrusted via New York Municipal Police Act.

Duties

The New York Police Department (NYPD) ensures public order within the city by employing methods such as the investigation of crimes, general law enforcement and supervision of public gatherings. Besides typical law enforcement, NYPD Officers also work closely with the civilian community to collect any reports and deal with any incidents before they turn into emergencies. The NYPD is charged with policing the most important city within the Protectorate, hence, they regularly train with other forces such as the American Bureau of Investigations, The 11th Army Corp and Security Forces to ensure the upmost capability in emergency response.
